Site-specific poems by Marisela Norte

Throughout December 2011, Out the Window presented artist Marisela Norte’s unique perspective as a sharp observer & longtime bus rider in Los Angeles. 5 new poems by Norte appeared on TransitTV as Metro buses passed through 5 intersections between East Los Angeles & Mid-Wilshire. The project links physical & virtual worlds through digital media offerings that coax viewers to explore & reconsider what exists out their window.

As a multi-phase project, the presentation of poetry marks the third phase of Out the Window rolling out a new, innovative, geographically specific component.  Norte’s poems were triggered as buses enter five specific intersections, Norte wrote her poems with these intersections in mind as they relate to her daily commute & the people/places she observes along the way.
